Characteristics of lines of magnetic flux, Solenoid, Current ring theory of magnetism, Hysteresis, Force on Current Carrying Conductor, Electromagnetic induction, Fleming's right hand rule, Lenz's law, Magnitude of induced e.m.f., Comparison of Electrostatic and Electromagnetic terms.

INDUCTANCE IN A.D.C CIRCUIT

Self inductance, Field discharger switch, Non inductive resistors, Unit of inductance, Air-Core and Iron-Cored inductions, L/R time constant, Mutual inductance, Dot notation.

ALTERNATING CURRENT

Generation of alternating e.m.f. in rotating coil, Slip ring, Relationship between frequency, Speed and number of pole pairs, Two segments and four segments commentator action, Instantaneous, Peak, average and r.m.s. values of a.c., Form factor and peak factor, Representation of an alternating quantity by a phasor.

TWO AND THREE-PHASE SYSTEMS
