Dept of Electronics bags 4 prizes in 5th Annual Students Engineering Exhibition (SEE-2011)

Pakistan Air Force - Karachi Institute of Economics & Technology (PAF-KIET), Pakistan’s premier institute, hosted its 5th annual Student Engineering Exhibition (SEE) 2011 from 7th to 8th February 2011. The event consisted of a total of 17 competitions falling in to 3 categories, School/College level, University level and General competitions and witnessed participation from National as well as International students.

The credit goes to students and the team coordinated by Assistant Professor Attiya Baqai, Lecturers Syed Ghulam Mustafa and Muhammad Zaigham Abbas Shah from the Department of Electronics Engineering and Lecturer Pervez Hameed Shaikh, Department of Electrical Engineering, under the guidance of Prof Dr BS Chowdhry.

The various competitions available for participation were: Senior Project Design Competition(SPDC), National Conference on Computer Engineering and Technology(NCCET), Micromaze, Eco-tronics, Java Konkurrenz, Battle of Bits, Sky Surfing and Gears of War in the university category, Explora Vision, Mind Quest, Java Junkies, Green Up in the School/College category, Gaming, Advertisement, Short Film in the General category.

 MUET sent 89 participants from 6 Departments, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum and Gas Engineering and Center of Excellence Arts & Design in 6 competitions: SPDC, NCCET, Micromaze, Eco-tronics, Sky Surfing and Gaming competitions winning prizes in 4 of them.

After intense scrutinizing by the honorable judges, students of Mehran University of Engineering and Technology were announced winners in the following competitions:

  • 1st position in Eco-tronics by the team of Muhammad Zoheb(09ES07) and Bilal Mughal(09ES39)
  • 2nd prize in NCCET for the Research Paper titled “Generation Of Electricity through Solar cell and Thermocouples and selling power back to grid station” authored by Abdullah Ansari(08ES03), ArsalanBhatti(08ES102) and AzamRafiqueMemon(08ES33)
  • 2nd prize in Micromaze by the team of Haresh Kumar(08ES51) and Ammar Ali(08ES72)
  • 3rd prize in SPDC for the project “Vision system for Robots” by Ahmed Mujtaba(08ES22)
