MUET GOES GLOBAL: MUET Achieved another milestone by Organizing an International Conference “Global Conference on Wireless and Optical Communication (GCWOC’16)” in Spain

Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET), Jamshoro, Pakistan, with technical collaboration and support from University of Malaga (UMA), Spain and Erasmus Mundus LEADERS program jointly organized   International conference “Global Conference on Wireless and Optical Communication (GCWOC’16) at UMA, Malaga, Spain. Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology (SSUET) Karachi, Pakistan had also joined the event as associate partner. In the inaugural session of the conference Prof BS Chowdhry, Chief Organizer of the event read the message of Prof Dr MA Uqaili, Vice Chancellor MUET. He thanked University of Malaga for providing opportunity in  hosting the international  event.  He further said that MUET has taken lead to jointly organize 1st international conference abroad. This will not only help our faculty, postgraduate students  but from other universities of Pakistan to develop networking, and linkages with international universities.  Prof Javier Poncela, Associate Dean International,  UMA, Spain said that  GCWOC’16 has become  an International forum for researchers to exchange information regarding novel aspects of technology, application and service development within the multidisciplinary framework of Wireless and Optical Communication Technologies.  GCWOC’16 aimed  to facilitate a creative environment for the promotion of collaboration and knowledge transfer. The conference program  had  keynote speakers, panel discussion and a multi-track technical program. Prof Dr Mohammed Slim Alouni of King Abdullah University of Science & Technology delivered a keynote talk on “  Spectrum Scarcity & Optical Wireless  Communications”. Prof Dr Robert Maunder of School of ECS, University of Southampton gave keynote on  “Joint design of signal processing and circuits for wireless systems”.


The Technical sessions were chaired by Prof Dr Shun –ping Chen from Germany, Prof Dr BS Chowdhry, from Pakistan, Prof Dr Javier Poncela from Spain, Prof Dr M Aamir from Pakistan, Prof Dr Pablo Otero from Spain, Prof Dr Rabia Inam from Pakistan and Prof Rob Maunder from UK. The Technical program committee accepted only 32 papers out of 82 submissions after thorough peer reviews. Presented papers covered wide variety of research area including  Signal processing, Energy efficiency and power management system, Smart and mobile antennas, Circuit design for wireless systems, Wireless sensor networks, Wireless Security, Industrial applications, Optical signal processing, Optical sensors, Photonic communications system, High-speed optical communications systems and devices, Coding techniques, Optical networks etc

These papers represented authors from Germany, Pakistan, China, Malaysia, Spain, UK, Ireland, Italy, Finland, USA, Canada, Tunisia, India, Saudi Arabia, UK, Poland, Denmark, Ireland, and Moraco Countries.  Accepted and presented papers will be submitted for publication in Springer’s Journal (an impact factor journal) on Wireless Personal Communication which is abstracted/indexed in: Science Citation Index Expanded (SciSearch), Journal Citation Reports/Science Edition, SCOPUS, INSPEC, Google Scholar, EBSCO, CSA, Academic OneFile, ACM Digital Library, Computer Science Index, CSA Environmental Sciences, Current Contents Collections / Electronics & Telecommunications Collection, EI-Compendex, Expanded Academic, OCLC, PASCAL, SCImago, Summon by ProQuest.
