Workshop on DSpace organized by SAARC Documentation Centre (SDC) New Delhi, India in collaboration with MUET Library & Online Information Center (LOIC), Jamshoro Pakistan (30th Dec 2013-3rd January 2014)

SAARC Documentation Center (SDC) is pleased to announce a five day workshop on DSpace from
 30th Dec 2013 to 3rd January 2014. The workshop is being organized with collaboration of   SAARC Documentation Center (SDC), New Delhi and Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET), Jamshoro. The workshop venue is MUET Library & Online Information Center (MUET-LOIC).

The first decade of the 21st century has witnessed a rapid change in the field of research on
Self-Archiving and Digital Repository with special reference to Open Archive Initiative (OAI). The Open Archive Initiative (OAI) is a world known useful tool for researchers and the academicians to get access to the database comprising resources that are intellectual outputs of particular institutions. As a part of OAI, building of digital archives is an essential step for unrestricted and unlimited global dissemination of information.

The purpose of the workshop is to develop an expertise by providing a thorough training and hands-on experience on digital library software- DSpace. This workshop is intended to equip participants with skills for developing their own digital libraries/institutional repositories. Experts will conduct lectures as well as intensive hands-on training sessions.

 

The workshop will be of immense benefit to all those involved in developing and maintaining digital collections such as LIS faculty, librarians and information professionals and also to those who are planning digitization. The maximum number of participants will be 30 as per SAARC practice, (16 from SAARC countries) and 14 from the host country. The accommodation will be provided to SAARC countries participants.
