Bridging Academia and Startups: BIC MUET Unites Faculty for Entrepreneurial Growth

The Business Incubation Center (BIC) at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET) took a significant step towards empowering faculty and fostering innovation with its Faculty Ambassador Training Session held on 08 April 2025 at the Conference Room, U.S.-Pakistan Center for Advanced Studies in Water(Opens in a new tab/window). This session brought together faculty leaders from 26 departments and directorates to equip them with the tools and knowledge to support student entrepreneurs and promote innovation across the university.

Prof. Dr. Engr. Arabella Bhutto(Opens in a new tab/window), Vice Chancellor at SABS University of Art, Design and Heritages Jamshoro(Opens in a new tab/window) emphasized the importance of building entrepreneurial ecosystems within academia, offering practical strategies for fostering student-led startups through the Lean Canvas for Invention methodology.

Sana Shah(Opens in a new tab/window), Director at National Incubation Center, Hyderabad(Opens in a new tab/window) spoke about the crucial role of bridging the gap between academia and startup incubation, and how faculty can actively help students connect to key resources, mentorship, and funding.

Dr. Zeeshan Khatri(Opens in a new tab/window), Founder & CEO of nanoCLO, and Chairman of Textile Engineering at MUET, shared his experience on overcoming departmental challenges and highlighted the vital role faculty members play in supporting and guiding student entrepreneurs to transform their academic knowledge into successful businesses.

With Cohort#1 for student startups on the horizon, faculty support is crucial for the success of this program. The session emphasized the vital role Faculty Ambassadors play in shaping the future of entrepreneurship at MUET.
