Electronics Department organizes the first ever Speed wire Competition "ECOTRONICS 2011"

Following well the tradition of coming forth with innovative ideas, the students of Department of Electronics Engineering, Mehran University of Engineering & Technology, Jamshoro, once again showed their versatile skills by organizing the competition “Ecotronics 2011” on Monday, 28th of March, 2011 for the students of Department of Electronics and Bio-Medical Engineering, providing the students an opportunity to enhance their practical skills.

This competition was the first of its kind to be held at MUET, in which the participants had to show their theoretical as well as practical skills in speed wiring and circuit designing. The event was successfully organized by the students of 3rd year (09-Batch), Electronics Engineering along with their teachers Engr. Syed Ghulam Mustafa, Engr. Khuhed Memon and Engr. Abbas Shah. The Chief Guests for the event were Prof. Dr. Abdul Kareem Baloch, Dean, Faculty of Electrical, Electronics & Computer Engineering (FEECE) and Prof. Dr. Bhawani Shankar Chowdhry, Chairman, Department of Electronics & Bio-Medical Engineering.

The team of evaluators comprised of the senior faculty members of Department of Electronics Engineering; Dr. Khalil-ur-Rehman Dayo, Engr. Wajiha Shah, Engr. Farzana Rauf Abro, Engr. Farida Memon, Engr. Abdul Sattar Ansari, Engr. Kamran Kazi, Engr. Kehkashan Memon and Engr. Attiya Baqai. A total of 86 students participated in the competition.

After punctilious evaluation of the performance of the participants, the prize distribution ceremony was held at Video Conferencing Hall, IICT, MUET, Jamshoro. 

The 1st prize was won by the team ES ROCKERZZ. Team members were Faisal Zahid and Shuhabuddin Khoso from 10-Batch.

The 2nd prize was won by the team FALCONS.
Team members were Fiza Surhio and Aisha Younis from 09-Batch.

The 3rd Prize was won by the team TROPICANA.
Team members were Ahmed Mujtaba and Rehan Detho from 

09-Batch.

The winners were awarded with shields, certificates and cash prizes. Also all the participants were awarded with certificates of particapation The Chief Guests were also presented with shields of honour. The award for the BEST ORGANIZER was shared byAbdullah Khan, Sundus Aslam Solangi and Sara Rahman Memon for their outstanding efforts in organizing the event.

Another good thing about the event: financially it was managed and supported by teachers and students. No single penny was obtained from university.  Chairman Electronics Prof Dr BS Chowdhry in his concluding remarks said that the event was “of the students, by the students, and for the students”.
