TRANSCENDENCE - Beyond The Limits

Transcendence-Beyond the limits, a very first event of its kind transcending the air of Mehran UET, Jamshoro setting up new thresholds for the upcoming events in the Mehran University of Engineering and Technology. Held at the main auditorium of Mehran UET on 30th of September 2014. It was an event containing motivational speaking sessions, poster competition and activities that were alluring to the audience.

The event itself was a unique experience, a sight to remember and a scene so unforgettable that it will always be considered an inspiration by the organizing committees of upcoming events in the future.

Dr. Tauha Hussain Ali (Registrar Mehran UET) was the Head (Chair) of the whole event. Guidance and management of Dr. Tauha made the event a full sure successful. He was the main helping hand, you can say the soul of the event. Transcendence was the result of their untiring efforts and determination of youngster studying in Mehran UET calling themselves as “THE VECTOR” in collaboration with “Humans of MUET” in the supervision of Engr. Shabir Hussain Khahro, Dr. Aamir Mehmood, Engr. Umair Mujtaba Qureshi and Engr. Abi Waqas.

The event started its way with the ribbon cutting ceremony for the poster competition being attended by senior faculty members including Dr. Tauha Hussain Ali (Registrar) and Dr. Bhawani Shankar Chowdhry (Dean FEECE Faculty Mehran UET). The efforts of Dr. Tauha can never be expressed in words it was his support and wise advices that led to the formation of this historic event which is a landmark for the Mehran UET. Team vector and the students of Mehran UET are forever in his gratitude. Dr.Tauha along with Dr.Bhawani visited the different posters being showed by different students competing in the poster competition. They went to the students, heard about their ideas and proposals encouraged the students and appreciated them for doing a great job.

The opening session of the event consisted of the speaking session of Dr. Tauha Hussain Ali who gave a motivational speaking session on “UNSTOPPABLE” inspiring students to work their way up, no matter how hard the problems they will have to face. He gave a heartwarming lecture about hope and determination. His session was mainly based on his life time experiences which he shared with the audience. Dr. Tauha amused the audience with his humor amazed them with his achievements. It was a marvelous experience exposing the students to the basic problems that one might face while stepping into professionalism.

The event’s main attraction was the speaking session of Mr. Umair Jaliawala. A well renounced speaker, entrepreneur working in different firms which mainly focus on the betterment of leading skills of youth all around Pakistan. His session was also meant to inspire the audience to work hard and face the hurdles that came in their way. His session was a joyful ride that was applauded and appreciated by the audience.

Apart from the motivational speaking sessions, there was a poster competition that was held in Transcendence. The competition consisted of around 160 students competing against each other. Around 40 posters were presented by different teams depicting their ideas related to different fields of engineering. The judges of the poster competition were Dr. Ali Asghar and Dr.Aneel Kumar.

The teams securing the top positions were:

 

  • 1st position was secured by a team of students belonging to Electrical engineering department. They presented a poster on “Advance artificial intelligence based robots for maintenance and monitoring of power plants” and were given the prize money of 8000/- and a shield of appreciation.

  • The 2nd position was given to a designed by students of Civil engineering department. A shield of appreciation and a cash prize of 5000/- was presented to them in the award distributing ceremony.
  • 3rd prize of rupees 2500/- was given to the students of Civil engineering.

The awards and prizes were distributed to the winners of Poster competition and the attendees by the chief guest Prof. Dr. Mohammad Aslam Uqaili, Vice Chancellor Mehran UET Jamshoro.

 

In Transcendence, Inauguration of first look of Humans of MUET’s MUETmosphere – The Complete Magazine about Mehran University of Engineering & Technology was also revealed. MUETmosphere is the complete magazine about MUET, which is comprised of different sections like Hall of Fame, Students Corner, Interviews, Science & Engineering Sections and a lot more. Its first look (i.e. Cover Page) was inaugurated by Worthy Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Aslam Uqaili along with Registrar, Prof. Dr. Tauha Hussain Ali and all Deans of Mehran UET i.e. Prof. Dr. Bhawani, Shankar Chowdhry (Dean FEECE), Prof. Dr. Hafeez-ur-Rehman Memon (Dean Faculty of Engineering), Prof. Dr. Ghous Bux Khaskheli (Dean Faculty of Architecture, Planning and Centre of Excellence of Arts & Design) and (Dr. Pir Roshan Shah Rashidi (Dean Faculty of Technology)

Transcendence was attended by a net count of around 800 persons including students of different departments, Teachers, Faculty members and Deans of different faculties residing in Mehran UET. It was a great sight to watch. Refreshment and lunch were given to the attendees at the end of the event.
