Business Incubation Center (BIC) MUET Concludes Startup Readiness Bootcamp for Cohort 2

The Business Incubation Center (BIC), Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET), Jamshoro, completed the four-day Startup Readiness Bootcamp Level 1 from 21 to 24 September 2026 for 15 incubated startups of Cohort 2. The programme helped founders examine the customer problems behind their ideas, develop business models, plan how to reach buyers and present their ventures professionally.

Startup Readiness Bootcamp activity report

For an emerging startup, having a product or an innovative idea is only the beginning. Founders also need to understand who will use it, why customers would choose it, how the business will earn revenue and how to communicate its value. The bootcamp addressed these questions through expert-led sessions and practical activities organised around four stages of startup development.

Day 1 Understanding Customers and Testing the Business Idea

Prof. Dr. Zeeshan Khatri led the opening session on customer discovery, problem validation, market research and competitive analysis. Validation means checking whether a startup addresses a real problem for an identifiable group of customers and whether its proposed solution responds to their needs.

Founders were guided to examine their target customers, the problems those customers experience and the alternatives already available in the market. The session helped participants understand why customer needs and market evidence should inform product development, rather than relying solely on assumptions about demand.

Day 2 Developing the Business Model and Planning the Product

Dr. Ubadullah Ansari led the second day, focusing on how an idea can become a workable business. Participants explored their value proposition, meaning the benefit their product or service offers and the reason a customer would choose it. The Business Model Canvas provided a framework for connecting customers, delivery channels, resources, costs and revenue.

The session also covered minimum viable product (MVP) planning, feature prioritisation, pricing and revenue strategies. An MVP is an initial version of a product with the essential features needed to test its usefulness with customers. These topics helped founders consider what to develop first, how to avoid unnecessary features and how their venture could generate income.

Day 3 Planning Market Entry and Reaching Customers

Dr. Adnan Ashraf guided the third day on go-to-market strategy, customer acquisition, sales funnels, customer pipelines and company profiles. A go-to-market strategy explains how a startup will introduce its offering to the right customers and turn interest into purchases.

The session addressed the steps between identifying potential buyers and building customer relationships. Founders explored how a sales funnel tracks the journey from initial awareness to a buying decision, while a customer pipeline helps organise prospective customers and follow-up opportunities. Preparing a company profile was also discussed as a way to introduce the venture and its offering clearly to potential clients and partners.

Day 4 Strengthening Business Identity and Presenting the Venture

Ms. Marvie Mussadiq and Mr. Qahafa Azhad Siddiqui guided the final day on branding and packaging, digital presence, effective use of media resources, legal and intellectual property awareness, and pitch preparation. These topics addressed how a startup presents itself to customers and communicates the value of its offering.

Branding and packaging were linked to product identity and customer recognition, while digital presence and media resources were discussed as channels for communicating with wider audiences. Pitch preparation and practice helped founders structure a concise explanation of the problem they address, their solution, target market and business model. Legal and intellectual property awareness introduced considerations relating to business formalisation and the protection of ideas and brand assets.

Closing Ceremony and Continued Startup Development

The programme concluded with a closing ceremony attended by Dr. Nasrullah Pirzada, Registrar, MUET. Certificates were awarded to the 15 participating startups, and guests and resource persons were recognised through trophy presentations.

Through the four-day programme, Business Incubation Center - BIC MUET provided structured support across the connected tasks of understanding customers, planning a viable business, approaching the market and presenting a venture. Level 1 established a foundation for further capacity building through the planned Level 2 programme, supporting the Center’s continuing work in entrepreneurship and startup development.
