Training on "OBE system and its regulations"

The Department of Electronic Engineering organized a one-day training on the "Outcome Based Education (OBE) System and its Regulations," which took place on August 18th, 2023. The event commenced with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Prof. Dr. Wajiha Shah, the Chairperson of the department, extended a warm welcome to both the distinguished resource person and the attending faculty members. The esteemed guest speaker for the seminar was Prof. Dr. Khadija Qureshi, a Meritorious Professor and Chairperson of the Chemical Engineering Department. Additionally, she holds the role of convener for the OBE Committee at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology. The primary aim of this seminar, organized by Prof. Dr. Wajiha Shah, was to equip the faculty members with essential insights into the Outcome Based Education System and its associated regulations.

During her presentation, Prof. Dr. Khadija Qureshi emphasized the significance of the OBE system and provided an in-depth exploration of its key characteristics. She highlighted the faculty members' responsibility in comprehending the OBE concept and effectively implementing it in their teaching methodologies. She discussed the details of aligning Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) with the subject curriculum and achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). She also elaborated on the Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) mechanism, both at the cohort and individual student levels. Furthermore, she shed light on the importance of direct and indirect assessment methods for Program Educational Outcomes (PEOs), particularly in the context of Employer and Alumni Survey forms as they play a pivotal role in catering to industry needs effectively.

The event received active participation from the faculty members of the Electronic Engineering Department, who not only attended the seminar but also engaged in insightful discussions. They took the opportunity to pose various queries related to the implementation of OBE system and the associated challenges.

In her concluding remarks, the Chairperson of the Electronic Engineering Department expressed gratitude on behalf of the department.
