Report: Pak Swiss Training Center (PSTC) Workshop

INTRODUCTION:

On the 17th of July, a highly anticipated workshop “Pak Swiss Training Center” workshop was held at Mehran University of Engineering and Technology. This workshop was organized by IEEE IMS society in collaboration with IEEE ComSoc society and Department of electronic engineering, MUET, Jamshoro. This event brings together professionals, researchers, and Students as well.

The Pak Swiss Training Center, renowned for its commitment to excellence in vocational training, hosted this event with the aim of providing valuable insights and hands-on learning experiences to all attendees.

This workshop had two parts: first part was the introduction of workshop and description by PSTC team; Second parts was hands-on practice.

First Part:

The first part was conducted at Video Conference Hall, IT Building MUET. It started with recitation by Mr. Naveed Ali followed by Pakistan’s nation Anthem. Then Ms. Mehwish, Vice Chair of IEEE IMS MUET, introduced the team and invited Dr. Wajiha Shah, Chairperson Electronic Dept. MUET, to welcome the PSTC team and participants.

Welcome Speech by Dr. Wajiha Shah

Dr. Wajiha Shah welcomed the PSTC team and Participants. She appreciated Dr. Aftab Memon for taking out his precious time and joining us in the opening ceremony. She also stated that the Electronic Department will continue to arrange these workshops for the students to learn and have more practical knowledge.

Dr. Aftab Memon, Chairperson Telecom Department, was also invited to the podium to share his insights on the Electronic Workshop ‘23.

Talk by Dr. Aftab Memon:

Dr. Aftab Memon initiated his talk by welcoming and thanking the PSTC Director and Team for their time and efforts. He also appreciated the Department of Electronic, IEEE IMS MUET and IEEE ComSoc for organizing the workshop and encourage Department of Electronic to organize more workshops which will benefit students in practical life.

MUET, and Dr. Umair Ahmed Korai, Assistant Professor and Section Chair Karachi, were to the podium to share the brief introduction regarding IEEE IMS and IEEE ComSoc.


Talk by Engr. Aamir Patoli:

Engr. Aamir Ali Patoli is currently serving as the IEEE IMS Advisor, his talk on IMS was truly inspiring. He highlighted how IMS plays a vital role in shaping leaders along with benefits and magazine provided by the society to young professionals. With a nurturing environment and excellent education, IMS continues to drive towards positive change.

Talk by Dr. Umair Ahmed Korai:

Dr. Umair Ahmad Korai, SAC Chair IEEE Karachi Section and Chair IEEE ComSoc Karachi, delivered an inspiring talk motivating students to explore IEEE's opportunities, scholarships, and events. He emphasized the value of being social and engaging with IEEE for career growth. His impactful words left a lasting impression, igniting ambition in all attendees.

Before, the PSTC was requested to join the stage to provide a detailed description of the workshop and trainers they brought with them, they were honored with Shields by Dr. Wajiha Shah and Dr. Aftab Memon.

KEYNOTE STATEMENT:

During the session, the PSTC team introduced their institution and delivered a presentation related to electronics and instrumentation technologies.
Following key points were presented:

  • SKILL DEVELOPMENT:
    The workshop emphasized practical skill development, enabling participants to acquire new competencies and refine existing ones. Trainers and experts from diverse domains led sessions tailored to specific industries, ensuring that attendees gained insights directly applicable to their work.
  • INDUSTRY RELEVANT INSIGHTS:
    Recognizing the importance of staying abreast of industry trends, the workshop featured presentations and discussions on the latest advancements, best practices, and emerging technologies relevant to different sectors.
  • NETWORK OPPORTUNITIES:
    The Pak Swiss Training Center workshop fostered a collaborative environment, encouraging attendees to interact with peers, industry leaders, and experienced mentors. Networking opportunities allowed participants to build valuable connections and potentially explore new partnerships.
  • HANDS-ON WORKSHOP:
    A significant highlight of the event was the hands-on workshops. Participants engaged in practical exercises and real-world simulations, providing them with a deeper understanding of concepts and the opportunity to apply their knowledge immediately.
  • PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL GROWTH:
    Beyond the technical aspects, the workshop also focused on personal and professional growth. Sessions on leadership, communication, and personal development aimed to empower individuals to thrive in their careers and tackle challenges effectively.


Second Part:

The second part was held at Electronic Department MUET. The participants were divided into 4 groups each consisting of 20 students. Then each group was sent to different trainers to learn and implement hands- on practice.


THE WORKSHOP HIGHLIGHTS:

  • INDUSTRY EXPERTS AND TRAINERS:
    Esteemed professionals and industry experts graced the event as speakers and trainers. Their expertise and vast experience added immense value to the workshop, leaving participants inspired and motivated.
  • PRACTICAL DEMONSTRATION:
    The workshop featured live demonstrations, allowing participants to witness cutting-edge technologies and methodologies in action. This approach enriched the learning experience and made complex concepts more accessible. The items for display were:
  1. Industrial Power Electronic Trainer
  2. Solar Electrical Bike
  3. IAutomatic Bottle Filling Machine
  4. PLC Trainer

INTERACTIVE DISCUSSIONS:

Open dialogues and interactive sessions encouraged participants to actively engage with the material and share their perspectives. This fostered an environment of collaboration and knowledge exchange.

Concluding Ceremony and Lunch:

The Concluding Ceremony was also held at Electronic Department MUET. During the concluding ceremony Pak-Swiss Training Center team was appreciated for their time and efforts to teach our students by Dr. Wajiha Shah, Chairperson Electronic Department. Certificates were also distributed to PSTC team, participants and volunteers by Dr. Wajiha Shah and Engr. Aamir Patoli. Then PSTC team and Participants were guided to lunch by the volunteers.

CONCLUSION:

The "Pak Swiss Training Center" workshop on the 17th of July undoubtedly proved to be a transformative experience for all involved. It equipped participants with invaluable knowledge, empowered them with practical skills, and connected them with a network of like-minded professionals. As the event concluded, attendees left with newfound enthusiasm to apply their learnings and make a positive impact in their respective fields.
